Develop your skills to perform MOT Motorcycle Tests Class 1 and 2 here at MOT Training Centre.

The Award in MOT Motorcycle Testing Class 1 and 2 has been developed with DVSA to give you the knowledge and skills required to perform the MOT Test Routine on motorbikes. After completing your course DVSA will need to observe you complete a VT8 assessment MOT test, before you receive your authorised  license to practice.

This Award in MOT Testing Class 1 and 2 will not expire, and holders will be considered professionally competent for their lifetime. Once qualified, MOT Testers will be required to complete three hours of CPD annually, sixteen hours over a five year period.

The Award in MOT Testing Class 1 and 2 qualification has been developed for individuals who would like to improve their career by becoming qualified Motorcycle MOT Testers.


You will need to provide the following documentation in order to attend the Motorcycle Testers course:

  • Hold a current UK Motorcycle licence
  • Four years’ industry experience
  • No unspent criminal convictions with motorcycles
  • Be ‘of good repute’


Award in MOT Testing Class 1 and 2 replaces the Nominated Tester Training (NTT) which was formerly run by DVSA. This qualification is for individuals who are serious about becoming a fully qualified motorcycle MOT tester. This intensive course will develop your skills around the MOT Testing Routine to help you become a Nominated Tester. You will focus on working safely within a Vehicle Test Centre, working relationships, professional development, health and safety, pre-test checks and the MOT test.

Using a blend of practical and theory based study we make learning easy by putting in place assessments that reflect the demands of today’s competitive industry, giving you a solid grounding in key principles and further industry knowledge

Once you have completed your Award in MOT Testing Class 1 & 2 you will need to complete a VT8 MOT test Observation which is the final step in your journey to become an MOT Motorcycle Tester.


To attain accreditation for the Award in MOT Testing Class 1 & 2, you will be required to successfully complete a range of practical and knowledge based assessments.

  • Encourage improvements in customer service relationship
  • Prepare the learner for managing your own CPD annual requirements
  • Improve safe working practices in the test centre

    After completion of the Award in MOT Testing Class 1 & 2 course here at MOT Training Centre you will be able to safely and competently work in a vehicle test centre, manage relationships, understand health and safety requirement, understand professional development and you will gain knowledge of how to carry out pre-test checks and carry out MOT Motorcycle tests.
